That man has to die but humanity has to live: Person’s True Wealth

Life is so brief and uncertain that we never know whether we will be able to breathe in the next moment. With a few breaths, we enter the world and then leave. Death is so powerful that despite centuries of research, scientists have never been able to stop it for a moment.

With life being so short, I often wonder why we put so much effort into it. We study for years, conduct research, develop new tools, and put in long hours. Wouldn’t it be better if we spent these few moments in peace and kept our needs to a minimum? Why work so hard if we’re going to die?

Then it emerges to me that I am incorrect. Scientists conduct research, labourers work, engineers create new designs, farmers cultivate crops, and teachers impart knowledge; all of this is done for the betterment of mankind, not for the benefit of a single individual. That man has to die but humanity has to live.

That man has to die but humanity has to live

In Greece, there is a famous story about a king who invaded a city and captured it after a fierce battle. The residents were enslaved as was the custom at the time. The King gathered the entire city’s people and praised their army for their valour in battle. He explained that the rule was that everyone should be enslaved, but he set everyone free. The condition, however, is that you must leave this city. You are only allowed to carry one backpack.

After this announcement of the king, every citizen was thinking about what to take and what to leave? There are properties, there are houses, and wealth. However, one person was moving forward without being disturbed. One old woman thought it might be crazy. The woman asked the man — “Are you crazy?” Everyone is carrying luggage and you are happily moving forward without any luggage?

The man claimed that man’s true wealth is his education, habits, and skills — what he has learned or adopted. True wealth is not what you believe it to be. If the King so desires, he may take this small portion from you as well.

In this world, everyone is unique, everyone has their own world, everyone has their own meaning of words, and everyone has their own behaviour. So, don’t copy anyone, you are yourself in everything. You have your own uniqueness, so live and enjoy your own uniqueness.
